'Yellowstone' Production Costs Revealed & It Takes So Much Money to Produce the Hit Drama!
Projected Costs
In the original WSJ article, it says that for the first season alone, a $7 million per episode budget was set for 10 episodes.
Only 9 made it to air, and the series still went over budget by $20 million because of delays in scripts and production.
For season 5, there’s an episode budget of $12 million. However, most of them have went over that.
Over Budget Costs
As mentioned earlier, some episodes of the current season went over the budget of $12 million per episode.
A person close to production told WSJ that to film “Tall Drink of Water,” they went over $75,461, due to the fees that were involved over meal times.
In another episode, prop rentals doubled the amount production had projected. Instead of the $36,000 that was planned, the end amount came in at $67,942.50.
