In a rare interview with People magazine, Tom Selleck reveals details about his life off-screen, highlighting the importance of family and his retreat to nature.

At 75 years old, the acclaimed actor, known for his role as Frank Reagan, NYPD police chief and family patriarch on Blue Bloods, shared insights into his peaceful life on his ranch near Los Angeles.

"My relationships and my ranch keep me sane," Tom confided, noting that his ranch used to be an avocado farm. "I do grunt work and make the rounds. I like watching things grow. It’s a retreat."

Tom also reflected on his decision to step away from the limelight for a period of time.

"I understood the implications of being a public figure intellectually, but it’s impossible to fully grasp until you’ve experienced it," he explained. "I had this feeling of, ‘I don’t think I’m cut out for this.’"

Tom emphasized the significance of balancing his career with family time.

"I’ve always cherished the balance between work and family. It’s always about them," he said.

Concluding, Tom expressed his gratitude: "I’m proud of my work, I still love what I do, and I have my family. I’ve been enormously fortunate."
