Pauley Perrette: From NCIS Star to Activist Icon

Pauley Perrette's NOH8 Campaign Throwback Sparks NCIS Nostalgia

Pauley Perrette, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the hit series NCIS, recently took a nostalgic journey through her past. After participating in a new photoshoot for the NOH8 campaign, Perrette shared some throwback pictures from her NCIS days on social media.

"New #NOH8 photo for new @noh8campaign project!!! Going through hundreds of NOH8 pics over the years and all the stuff me and @adambouska and @jeffparshley have done together. Love you boys so much!"

Iconic Looks and Lasting Impact

The photos showcased Perrette's signature jet-black hair, a look that became synonymous with her character Abby Sciuto. One standout image was from the 2011 People's Choice Awards, where Perrette wore a custom-designed NOH8 gown by Terri King, using her platform to promote the initiative.

For over ten years, Perrette has been a staunch supporter of the NOH8 campaign, an organization dedicated to promoting marriage, gender, and human equality through various means including education and visual protest.

Fans have praised Perrette's commitment to the cause, with one commenting, "Thank you for being such an amazing voice for equality." Another dubbed her an "activist queen," highlighting her impact beyond the screen.

Perrette starred on NCIS from 2003 to 2018, but has since retired from acting. In a 2020 tweet, she explained:

"I retired after NCIS but BROKE [Pauley's 2020 sitcom] was important, beautiful. I did my last dance & am proud of it! Everyone that knows me knew I was retiring right after. I'm proud of my work. I love you guys! I AM FREE!!!"

Since then, Perrette has focused on her activism work, though she maintains some connections to her NCIS past. In June, she shared a photo of herself with former co-star Brian Dietzen and Criminal Minds actress Kirsten Vangsness at a Sarah McLachlan concert.

The Truth Behind Her NCIS Departure

Pauley left NCIS after reportedly falling out with Mark Harmon

While fans hope for Perrette's return to NCIS, it seems unlikely due to reported conflicts with series lead Mark Harmon. The tension allegedly stemmed from an incident in 2016 involving Harmon's dog on set, which resulted in a crew member needing stitches.

Executive producer Charles Floyd Johnson addressed the situation, stating:

"In Pauley Perrette's case, there was an incident with the show with a dog. The dog was Mark Harmon's, and apparently the dog bit someone. Pauley was a huge, huge SPCA animal person. And then the dog kept coming with Harmon, and she felt it wasn't safe for the show. By the end of that year, she just felt like it wasn't working for her anymore, and it was time to move on."

A New Chapter

Despite the circumstances of her departure, Perrette's impact both on and off-screen remains significant. Her continued dedication to causes like NOH8 showcases her commitment to using her platform for positive change, solidifying her status as both a beloved actress and a respected activist.
