Kevin Costner Bids Farewell to Yellowstone, Turns Focus to the Big Screen
Kevin Costner, the beloved actor known for his role as John Dutton III in the hit series “Yellowstone,” has officially confirmed that he will not be returning to the show. Fans were eagerly awaiting the second half of season five, which aired at the end of 2022, but unfortunately, Kevin won’t be part of it.
In an emotional Instagram video, Kevin shared the news with fans while promoting his upcoming movie, “Horizon: An American Saga,” set to hit theaters on June 28. He expressed gratitude for the experience of working on “Yellowstone” but acknowledged that he won’t be able to continue with the series.
“Hi everyone. I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on ‘Horizon’ and doing all the things that are required, and thinking about ‘Yellowstone’—that beloved series that I love—that I know you love. I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future,” Kevin said.
He went on to reflect on how the show had impacted him personally:
“It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning. I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop, and I’ll see you at the movies.”
The delay in the second half of season five was due to the writers’ strike, which affected production schedules. Fans will have to wait until November 2024 to see how the story unfolds without Kevin’s character.
