Amber Marshall Praises Heartland's Success on Wholesome Family Themes

Amber Marshall, star of the long-running Canadian drama Heartland, recently shared insights into the show's enduring success, praising its wholesome, family-friendly themes and the joy of filming amidst the stunning Canadian landscape.

When I think about all the hours we have spent filming this show and…I’m still not sick of it, so that’s saying something! she joked about HEARTLAND’s longevity.

A Breath of Fresh Air

Marshall was all smiles talking about filming outside. She said,

'It's so great to be out here, especially when you think about all my friends who are stuck in studios all day. That's what makes HEARTLAND special—we get to see it all, rain or shine.'

The actress praised the show's stunning outdoor sets, saying they exude a warmth that aligns seamlessly with HEARTLAND's heartwarming themes of family and contentment. She added, "The essence of HEARTLAND, that feeling of family unity and peace, is palpable here."

Connecting Families in a Disconnected World

In an interview with TV Insider, Marshall elaborated on what she believes draws viewers to Heartland, season after season. “I think fans are really looking for a nice, wholesome, family show that they can sit down together and watch and not be worried about the content. Not have to explain things to their kids,” she shared:

In a world often dominated by technology and screens, Heartland offers a shared experience that brings families together. “Everybody is very disconnected, but they can still get together to sit and watch our show together,” Marshall reflected.

Critics are losing their minds over how genuine the show feels. It's not just entertainment - it's like that friend who always knows how to make everything better.

Heartwarming Stories and Enduring Bonds

Season 17 promises to deliver more of the heartwarming stories that fans have come to expect. "Amy is in a really good place in Season 17,” Marshall teased. “There’s lots of fun stories [this season].”

The bond between sisters Amy and Lou, played by Marshall and Michelle Morgan respectively, remains a central element of the show.

“The truth is, for Amber and I, luckily our relationship has flourished over the years, and we get along better than ever,” Morgan shared. “We have a great relationship, and when we do scenes like that, it’s not super often. So we appreciate it… We get to do this scene as sisters.”

Movieguide®, in its review of the Season 12 episode “Dare To Dream”, captured the essence of Heartland's appeal: “[It] has consistently great writing and excellent filming and acting, with stunning scenery of the Canadian plains and Rocky Mountains. The program’s compelling characters show a warm and genuinely supportive family environment. ... HEARTLAND is a wonderful TV show. It leaves viewers feeling uplifted and encouraged.”
